Compared with other optical modules, electrical interface modules have the advantage of cost-effectiveness. In the 100M transmission distance, if the optical module is used, it is necessary to use optical fiber for wiring and increase the photoelectric converter equipment, which causes the application cost of the optical module to be too high; while using the electrical interface module, it can be directly used in the existing copper cabling system.


In most cases, data centers are interconnected internally by active optical cables or high-speed cables, but because the transmission distance of high-speed cables is within 7M, the transmission distance is too short, and the use of active cables can meet the transmission requirements. Distance requirements, but the cost is too high within 100M transmission distance. At this time, the electrical interface module just made up for the lack of high-speed cable transmission distance and the high cost of active cables within 100M.
