Types of Hybrid Coupler

01
2 In 2 Out Hybrid Coupler
Hybrid coupler 2in 2out is a high-quality component that provides efficient signal splitting in a variety of applications. With two inputs and two outputs, this coupler is perfect for distributing signals across multiple devices or circuits.

02
90 Degree Hybrid Coupler
A 90° Hybrid Coupler is a 4 port device that is used to equally split an input signal with a 90° phase shift between the ports.

03
3db Hybrid
They offer a wide frequency coverage from 0.15 to 18 GHz in single, compact packages that provide low insertion loss, high directivity and tight coupling.

04
Wideband Hybrid Coupler
Wide-band hybrid couplers consist of a conductor fabricated by thin-film techniques in microstrip the conductor side and a slot in the ground plane side.

Efficiency and Flexibility
They enable efficient signal splitting and combining, which is essential for maintaining signal integrity and optimizing performance in complex RF environments.
Cost-Effectiveness
By allowing multiple signals to share infrastructure, hybrid couplers reduce the need for additional hardware, saving costs.
Signal Management
They help manage multiple signals, whether from different transmitters or to different receivers, ensuring that all signals maintain their strength and quality.
Improving Coverage
They ensure that signals are evenly distributed to various antennas, providing consistent coverage across a facility.
Supporting Multi-Operator Environments
Hybrid couplers allow for the combination of multiple carriers, making them ideal for environments where different network operators share infrastructure.
Enhancing Signal Quality
By minimizing interference and maintaining signal integrity, they ensure high-quality communication for end-users.
The Difference Between A Hybrid Coupler And A Directional Coupler
One of the main differences between directional and hybrid couplers is their functionality. Directional couplers are used to split or combine energy into or out of a transmission line, whereas hybrid couplers are used to split an input signal into two output signals of equal amplitude and a phase difference of 90 degrees.
Another difference is their port configuration. The directional coupler has four ports - input, output, coupling, and isolation, while the hybrid coupler has four ports - two inputs and two outputs.
The third difference is their frequency response. Directional couplers can operate over a wide frequency range and can handle high power. Hybrid couplers, on the other hand, have a limited bandwidth and cannot handle high power as well as directional couplers.
Main Operating Modes of Hybrid Couplers
Coupler Splitter Mode
Splits an input signal into two equal components with a 90° phase difference between the outputs.
Coupler Combiner Mode 1
Combines two identical signals with a 90° phase difference, resulting in a more robust output.
Coupler Combiner Mode 2
Combines two non-coherent signals, allowing for flexibility in signal combination from different sources.

★ Ensure proper impedance matching to avoid signal reflection or power loss.
★ Mount the hybrid coupler on a flat, grounded metal surface to ensure stable RF performance.
★ Maintain appropriate spacing between the coupler and surrounding RF components to prevent interference.
★ Follow the manufacturer’s recommended power handling limits to prevent damage.
★ Keep the operating environment within specified temperature and humidity ranges.
